Former Aviva Australia CEO Allan Griffiths has been appointed MD of Aviva South Asia.

A spokesman for Aviva Asia confirmed to insuranceNEWS.com.au that Mr Griffiths will be responsible for its Singapore, Malaysian, Hong Kong and Indonesian businesses.

He was previously a director of Aviva’s Malaysian and Taiwanese businesses when running the company’s Australian operations.

Mr Griffiths left Aviva Australia last December after the NAB takeover of the business earlier in the year.

He was CEO of the Australian business for six years and had joined Aviva from Colonial in the late 1990s, where he had held a number of senior positions including running the dealer groups.

Mr Griffiths will be based in Singapore in his new role.
