Finity Consulting names new chairman

Actuarial and analytics firm Finity Consulting says Andy Cohen will be its new Chairman, replacing Tim Andrews who is relocating to India at the end of the year.

Mr Cohen, a Principal of Finity with more than 25 years’ experience in the general insurance industry, has been the curator of Finity publication Optima for more than a decade.

“His appointment comes at an exciting time for the firm, as we continue to grow and broaden our consulting business,” Finity MD Scott Collings said. “Andy’s experience and outstanding leadership qualities make him an excellent choice.”

This year, Finity acquired AI analytics firm Deep Logic and health insurance consultancy dbn Actuaries.

Mr Cohen has experience in areas including workers’ compensation, CTP, personal lines, professional indemnity, public liability, travel and reinsurance. He has provided advice on reserve levels, pricing, financial projections and reinsurance strategy and holds a number of Appointed Actuary and External Peer Review Actuary positions.

Outgoing chairman Mr Andrews was last month awarded the Actuaries Institute title of Actuary of the Year for his work around climate change impacts. Mr Andrews led the institute’s development of the Australian Actuaries Climate Index, which provides an objective measure of the frequency of weather extremes.

Mr Andrews will be part of an international insurer's global climate team in Bangalore while mentoring and supporting emerging actuaries.
