Experts and heroes to address NT conference
An international expert on personal injury management is among the headline speakers at this year’s Territory Insurance Conference in Darwin.
Mohammed Ranavaya, from Marshall University in West Virginia, advises multinational companies and the US Government on rehabilitation and return-to-work issues.
The conference, themed Resilient Future and sponsored by the Territory Insurance Office (TIO), will also hear from Curtis McGrath, who lost his legs in a bomb blast in Afghanistan in 2012 and won a canoeing world title two years later.
TIO Acting CEO Paul Kernaghan says Mr McGrath exemplifies resilience.
About 300 people are expected to attend the conference from October 28-30.
“It’s an exciting program that will offer delegates working in general insurance and personal injury management unique professional development opportunities to enhance their qualifications,” Mr Kernaghan said.
LMI Group’s Allan and Steven Manning will also address the conference.
Mr Kernaghan says with a spotlight on developing northern Australia, now is an ideal time to build resilience in the NT insurance industry.
TIO, now owned by Allianz, has been principal sponsor of the conference since it started in 2012 and is proud to continue supporting it, he says.
The line-up of speakers will be finalised by the end of this month and the conference activities will culminate with the second annual Territory Insurance Awards.
The categories are broker professional of the year, sales and underwriting professional, claims professional, service provider and young insurance professional.
Registrations for the conference at Darwin Convention Centre open next month.
