Execs prepare for charity sleepout

Insurance bosses will take part in the 20th annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout, held on one of the year’s coldest nights to support Australians vulnerable to homelessness.

Everest Insurance head of Asia-Pacific Scott Leney and Insurance Advisernet MD Shaun Standfield are among industry leaders gearing up for the event in June.

More than 122,000 people are homeless across Australia.

Funds raised through the sleepout help the St Vincent de Paul Society provide food, housing, healthcare, case management and other assistance.

“We’ve seen so many people take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout over the past two decades gain a greater understanding of homelessness and how they can use their positions of influence to push for a more just society,” the society’s acting NSW CEO Niamh Mannion said.

Vinnies has supported 11,800 people through its homelessness and housing, health, and community and inclusion services in the past year.

Mr Standfield has participated in five sleepouts and raised more than $36,000.
