Ex-president wins ANZIIF life membership award
Resolution Life COO Megan Beer has been recognised with this year’s Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance honorary life membership award.
Ms Beer is a former ANZIIF president and was a director from 2015 to 2022. The award recognises extraordinary service to the institute.
This year’s service awards went to Jim Karafilis and Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation chief underwriting officer Michael Pennell.
Mr Karafilis stepped down last year as GM at Insurance House Advance after more than 46 years in insurance, and is a past ANZIIF’s General Insurance Faculty Advisory Board member.
Mr Pennell is a past chair of ANZIIF’s Reinsurance Faculty Advisory Board and is on the institute’s Reinsurance Rendezvous Organising Committee.
Aon corporate authorised representative Siew Wei Chai – who wrote an article titled Insurance Premiums and Affordability: How Can We Curb the Cycle of Loss and Costs? – won the EE Vines Memorial Prize.
The award was established in 1956 to commemorate Australia Insurance Institute secretary Ernest Edward Vines, and recognises an article written by an ANZIIF member.
