Ex-NIBA chief receives Australia Day honour 

Former National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) CEO Dallas Booth has been made a Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his service to the industry. 

“I’m proud of my contributions,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au of his work across 30 years. 

“Public policy, working in the NSW Government, working for the Insurance Council of Australia and doing a couple of other things, industry representation, NIBA. 

“There’s a whole range of areas in insurance ... I’ve put a lot of effort and time into those areas and I’m absolutely honoured to get recognition for that contribution.” 

Mr Booth was NIBA CEO from 2011 to 2021. He was Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) deputy CEO from 2003 to 2006, and Motor Accidents Authority of NSW GM from 1996 to 1998. 

After leaving NIBA, he set up his own consultancy and remains involved with the industry. He chairs ICA’s Business Advisory Council. 

Matthew Kayrooz, who led Suncorp Group’s compulsory third party business until October 2020, was also made a Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division in the Australia Day Honours List.
