Envest collects $81k for youth mental health
The Envest Broking Conference raised $81,000 for youth mental health foundation Headspace.
The foundation provides early intervention services to 12- to 25-year-olds, helping thousands of people manage their mental and physical health, and work and study goals. It also runs alcohol and other drug services.
Intermediary group Envest’s chairman, Paul Lynam, said: “As a parent, and with many of our staff also having children in this age group, we see first-hand the importance of supporting mental health for young people in Australia. We are proud to have raised these funds.
“It speaks volumes about the values we hold as a company and as individuals. We hope this donation helps more young people get the support they need as soon as they need it.”
The funds will support expansion of services, including vocational assistance and substance use programs.
Headspace CEO Jason Trethowan says two in five young Australians experience mental ill-health each year.
“The work of Headspace has never been more important,” he said. “We are so grateful to Envest ... these funds will help Headspace’s team of mental health professionals provide even more young people with mental health support.”
