Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel and Bushfires Royal Commission Implementation Monitor Neil Comrie will be among the speakers at the Australian and New Zealand Disaster and Emergency Management Conference in May.

The event, on the Gold Coast from May 5-7, will consider lessons from natural disasters in recent years.

It will include sessions on risk management, human and social issues, education and training, vulnerable populations and business continuity.

Topics will include preparedness, community resilience, data protection, geospatial technology and use of social media.
