Dedicated broker wins CQIB award

Bree Hinchy, of Tony Bemrose Insurance Brokers, has won the Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers’ Peter McCarthy Award.

The prize, presented at the council’s annual convention, recognises a young professional’s contribution to the broking industry.

Ms Hinchy began her insurance career at KIB in Cairns in 2004, where challenges included the aftermath of Cyclone Larry. She joined Tony Bemrose last year.

She has managed a corporate travel scheme, helped clients sandbag a restaurant in the face of a flood and helped out after a fire in an insured’s property.

The award remembers Peter McCarthy, who had a long career in the industry and was the council’s executive secretary from 2004 to 2007, the year he died.

Ms Hinchy is the seventh recipient of the award.

The council also announced that members and business partners have raised $46,000 for the Children’s Health Foundation.
