Coverholder courses address training gaps

The College of Professional Education has joined with Lloyd’s Australia to offer new courses that will help address gaps in training for coverholders and their staff.

The college, set up in June 2009 by experienced technical manager and educator Maureen Ball, is offering a Certificate IV of General Insurance aimed at individuals operating under a delegated authority and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Licensing Management for senior professionals with overall binder responsibilities.

The Sydney-based college has used insurance professionals with delegated authority to test the content of the courses and its relevance for coverholder operatives and managers.

Ms Ball told insuranceNEWS.com.au there were previously no tailored educational pathways for coverholders.

She says more courses for coverholders are under development.

Lloyd’s Head of Delegated Authorities in the market’s Performance Management Directorate Peter Montanaro says the new courses are an important initiative “increasing the levels of professionalism for those operating under a delegated authority”.

The courses are open for enrolment from today and more information is available on the college website.
