Community Underwriting has opened applications for its 2019 grants program and not-for-profit customers of the charity insurance specialist have until the end of the month to apply for one of 47 grants on offer.

Each year Community Underwriting allocates 5% of its annual surplus to clients who have renewed their insurance. This year there are 10 grants of up to $5000, 15 of up to $2000 and 22 of up to $1000 up for grabs.

Applications close on November 29 and the grants will be awarded on December 6.

In 2018, grants were awarded to St Kilda Mums, The Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation Occasion Craft for Sick Children project, Blue Mountains tool library Toolo Ltd which aims to reduce landfill, Greyhound Rescue, the Blue Mountains Aboriginal Culture and Resource Centre, Bangalow Koalas and many others.
