CommInsure boss leaves ICA board

CommInsure MD Helen Troup has resigned as a director with the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).

“On behalf of the board, I thank Helen for her three-and-a-half years of service and contributions to ICA,” Executive Director and CEO Rob Whelan said.

Ms Troup has been CommInsure MD since April 2014. Before that she was head of life and health in Australia and New Zealand for Swiss Re.

She suffered a bruising encounter with Counsel Assisting Rowena Orr during insurance hearings at the Hayne royal commission last month, as CommInsure’s denial of life claims based on outdated definitions was laid bare.

However, an ICA spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au this this had no bearing on her decision to resign from the council’s board.
