Coalition strengthens cybersecurity team

Cyber specialist Coalition has added three experts to its team as it continues developing tools to protect SMEs from attacks and ensure business continuity.

George Oosthuizen, who has more than 15 years’ experience in cybersecurity architecture and threat detection, joins the underwriting agency’s security support centre in Melbourne.

Glen Scott has been appointed senior security analyst in Perth, and Alec Snazelle joins as a managed detection and response analyst in Canberra.

Mr Scott brings 25 years of IT experience, including cybersecurity roles at HBF Health and Commonwealth Bank. Mr Snazelle has expertise in cybersecurity governance and compliance, particularly in the SME sector. He was most recently at Deloitte.

Coalition’s Australian GM Sam Weaver says the appointments improve the agency’s ability to deliver “active insurance”, which is designed to prevent digital risk before it strikes.

“Our mission is to enable Australian SMEs to achieve greater cyber resilience – George, Glen and Alec joining reflects our commitment to that goal,” he said.

The global cyber insurance provider entered the Australian market in November last year and says it is expanding as the strength of the economy attracts new threat actors.
