Climate change paper wins award
The authors of a paper discussing the significance of climate change have won an Actuaries Institute award.
The 2014 Taylor Fry General Insurance Seminar Silver Prize goes to Jon Harwood, Portfolio and Underwriting Insights Manager at Suncorp Group; Sharanjit Paddam, Actuary at Taylor Fry; Jessica Egan, Actuarial Analyst at Employers Mutual; and Andy Pitman, director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science.
Their paper – called Can Actuaries Really Afford to Ignore Climate Change? – was presented at the Actuaries Institute General Insurance Seminar in November.
The judging panel says it raised awareness of an important contemporary issue.
