Climate, catastrophes, diversity among key topics at Actuaries Institute summit
The Actuaries Institute will hold a three-day conference next month in Melbourne, from May 2-4, discussing key issues and trends facing the general insurance industry as well as the life, superannuation and wealth sectors.
IAG Chief Actuary Brett Ward and Finity Principal Andrew Matthews are taking part in one of the plenary sessions on disaster resilience.
The session, titled Out of the Storm, takes stock of events in recent years and aims to explore how communities and businesses can improve their preparation and resilience to manage future disasters.
Climate change and its impact on catastrophe loss modelling, lessons learned from the covid pandemic, diversity and inclusion challenges and use of Big Data are also on the program agenda.
The Actuaries Institute’s Disability Insurance Taskforce will discuss sustainability concerns in relation to group insurance and other key topics in one of the sessions.
Individual disability income insurance will also be discussed at the summit.
Former Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) Deputy Chairman Ian Laughlin and APRA board member Margaret Cole are among the speakers for the summit.
