Claims manager wins TurksLegal scholarship
Claims Manager Jason Courtenay from Brisbane brokerage Bellrock Construction Surety has won this year’s Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) TurksLegal Claims Scholarship.
He wrote an essay on an insurer’s right to choose the risks it accepts.
SLE Underwriting Corporation Claims Officer Shane Cornford was runner-up with a piece on the scope and power of the Financial Ombudsman Service.
“This year’s scholarship posed some challenging questions and both the winner and the runner-up’s entries tackled difficult issues clearly and with a well-argued point of view,” TurksLegal General Insurance Partner and scholarship judge Paul Angus said.
Mr Courtenay wins a trip worth up to $8000 to next year’s Claims Conference & Insurance Services Expo in the US, or $5000 cash and registration for the next ANZIIF Claims Convention in Australia.
Mr Cornford receives registration, travel and accommodation for the ANZIIF Claims Convention next year.
