Claims Convention promises technology focus

Speakers at next month’s Asian Claims Convention in Phuket will discuss the impact of technology.

Talks will cover a range of topics with a technology focus, including driverless vehicles, cyber risks and last year’s chemical warehouse explosions in Tianjin, China.

“A lot of the presentations… will be talking about how technology is affecting the way we handle and process claims and review things,” Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters CEO Tony Libke told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

The institute expects about 120 delegates to attend the April 20-22 event at the Grand Mercure Phuket Patong, held in partnership with the Singapore College of Insurance and the Malaysian Insurance Institute.

There will be 12 speakers from Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, including:

  • John Goulios, DLA Piper Singapore on cyber risks facing corporations
  • Bruce Swales, PT&C/LWG Forensic Consulting Services on the Tianjin port explosion and technology’s impact on multiple phases of the claims process
  • Danny Ooi, Scor Re on how new technology will impact reinsurers, for example driverless vehicles
  • Yu Ong Sing, Forensic Services Asia on CCTV evidence and fire investigation
  • Peter Wrona, Thornton Tomasetti on using innovative technology in building and other structure damage assessments.
