CHU Underwriting Agencies is sponsoring the African Children’s Choir’s tour across Australia.

CEO Bobby Lehane told insuranceNEWS.com.au several choir members participated in a short internship at CHU during their last tour two years ago, and the group reached out to the business for sponsorship this year.

The choir started touring 34 years ago, and has helped fund tertiary education for 52,000 people in Uganda and Kenya.

Mr Lehane says his brother, a choir singer, introduced him to members of the African Children’s Choir.

Tour group members and CHU held a workshop together a few weeks ago.

“It was quite disarming for staff to see these wonderful, warm, open people, despite the tough backgrounds that they’ve come from,” Mr Lehane told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

CHU anticipates it will continue sponsoring the choir, he says.

The choir will perform across Australia until July.
