Chamber helps Queenslanders brace for storm season

The Queensland Government and Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland have released a guide, including a video, to help businesses prepare for the impending storm season.

The package includes “resources and information to help you to make sure your business can mitigate your risks and prepare for storm season”, the chamber says on its website.

The partners say the destruction caused by Cyclone Yasi in 2011 and Cyclone Oswald in 2013 show the importance of business continuity plans.

“Severe storms can strike at any time and can cause major damage to your business,” the video says. “Be sure to have a continuity plan in place to ensure your business could recover or at least partially restore critical business activities shortly after a crisis or disaster.

“Weather the storm and minimise its impact.”

An effective continuity plan covers prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, according to the video.

The chamber’s website features a fact sheet for business owners and emergency contact numbers.
