CEOs gear up for homeless fundraiser

Insurance executives are among hundreds of CEOs preparing to sleep rough to raise funds and awareness for Australia’s homeless.

Insurance & Care NSW (icare) CEO Vivek Bhatia will take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout for the third time, along with other members of his leadership team.

“It has been a humbling experience for me to feel some of the vulnerability that 100,000 other homeless Australians face every night sleeping rough on the streets with no shelter, safety or food,” Mr Bhatia told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“Behind every homeless person is a story – a fellow Australian who has experienced the extreme isolation and desperation of homelessness. Last year ‘team icare’ raised about $20,000 for the cause, and we’re determined to smash that target this year.”

Taking part for the fourth time is Marsh CEO Scott Leney, who is one of the top fundraisers, having already collected more than $20,000 towards his target of $25,000.

QBE also has a team, including Lenders’ Mortgage Insurance CEO Phil White.

Events take place across Australia on June 22. For more information or to sponsor those taking part, click here.
