Carey Bird scholarship open for entries

This year’s Carey Bird Scholarship is open to all Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) members.

In previous years the award has focused on under-40s, but this time all members, except directors, can take part.

The annual scholarship was established in 2013 in honour of Carey Bird, an AICLA member who was killed in the Christchurch earthquake of February 22 2011.

Mr Bird was working on business interruption claims for international broker Marsh Forensic Accounting and Claims Services (FACS) at the time of the quake.

Applicants must write 1000-1500 words on the topic of utmost good faith, and how the principle applies today.

The scholarship prize is a framed certificate and attendance at either the AICLA-organised Sydney Claims Convention or Asian Claims Convention – with economy airfares, accommodation and other expenses paid – or $3000 in cash.

Entries close on May 31 and the award is co-sponsored by Marsh FACS.
