Bushfire centre names new Chairman
The Bushfire and Natural Hazards Co-operative Research Centre (CRC) has named Katherine Woodthorpe as its new Chairman.
Dr Woodthorpe replaces Laurie Hammond, the founding chairman who died last year following a short illness. The appointment is effective immediately.
“Katherine has extensive experience in management and as a professional director,” Acting Chairman Alistar Robertson said.
“Her knowledge of the research and innovation sector will be of tremendous use as the… CRC completes its current research agenda and looks towards an ongoing role in natural hazards research.”
Dr Woodthorpe is Chairman of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC and the HEARing CRC, with both terms ending in June.
She also chairs the National Climate Science Advisory Committee and has served as CEO of the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.
