Underwriting agency SUA and insurer Axis will host free occupational health and safety (OHS) harmonisation seminars for brokers in Adelaide and Perth this week and next.

The seminars will inform brokers about new laws in some states designed to make OHS more consistent across the country.

Although not all states have agreed to the uniform laws, the changes affect businesses that operate across state borders.

Speakers will discuss penalties for breaches, including workplace fatalities and injuries as well as environmental damage such as pollution.

The seminars will also cover the new categories of offences, which divide breaches by severity.
