Booth brings wide experience to NIBA
Asbestos Injuries Compensation Fund CEO Dallas Booth will “hit the ground running” when he takes up the position of National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) CEO in July.
Mr Booth, a lawyer, has served as Deputy CEO of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), GM of the NSW Motor Accidents Authority and as a board member of WorkCover Tasmania.
He will start work at NIBA on June 27, with a one-week handover before incumbent CEO Noel Pettersen departs.
Mr Booth told insuranceNEWS.com.au he will settle into the new role before commenting publicly, but NIBA President David Duffield says Mr Booth will “hit the ground running” on the key issues facing brokers.
“Dallas Booth has extensive knowledge of the insurance industry in Australia and wide experience representing the interests of the industry at all levels,” he said.
In 2001 Mr Booth helped implement and manage the HIH Claims Support Scheme and arrangements between the Federal Government and the insurance industry for the provision of assistance to policyholders suffering hardship as a result of HIH’s demise.
He left ICA in 2006 following the controversial reorganisation by then-CEO Kerrie Kelly which saw all but three managers replaced, and since December 2006 has been CEO of the Asbestos Injuries Compensation Fund, which manages the arrangements between James Hardie Industries and the NSW Government for the funding of compensation claims against former James Hardie companies.
