Axis chief hails cancer charity fundraiser

Wearing his hat as Chairman of the Children’s Cancer Institute, Axis Specialty Australia CEO David Smith has thanked supporters of the charity’s annual Diamond Ball.

The fundraiser at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on August 29 attracted 550 people and raised $610,000. Governor-General Peter Cosgrove was guest of honour.

“The money raised will go towards researching children’s cancer and to support our mission of ending childhood cancer,” Mr Smith told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“I am very grateful for the support we have received.”

This is Mr Smith’s third year as institute Chairman. Last week he helped unveil the $40 million Zero Childhood Cancer research program.
