Australia’s finance professionals ‘have highest job satisfaction’
Job website eFinancialCareers has found Australian finance professionals have the highest job satisfaction among employees it surveyed in Australia, Hong Kong, China and Singapore.
The recruiter’s latest regional job satisfaction survey found 69% of the Australians surveyed are somewhat, very or extremely satisfied with their current job, compared with 64% in Hong Kong and China, and 63% in Singapore.
The 952 financial market professionals surveyed between August and September ranged from junior to senior staff.
The Australians rated intellectual challenge, remuneration and benefits, work/life balance and opportunities for promotion as critical work motivators, eFinancial Head of Asia Pacific George McFerran said.
He says while employers meet most of these expectations, there are areas of concern, with 45% of respondents expressing dissatisfaction with promotion opportunities at their current companies.
“Firms need to recognise employees’ desire for a visible career path and better manage their expectations about promotion so that there are no surprises during the performance assessment meetings,” Mr McFerran said.
