Assetinsure manager takes Frank Earl Award
Assetinsure National Manager Professional Risks Ewen McKay has won the Australian Professional Indemnity Group’s (APIG) Frank Earl Award.
Mr McKay has worked in the insurance industry for more than 28 years, specialising in professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ liability and related classes.
He wins a $6000 travel package and registration for next year’s Professional Liability Underwriting Society conference in Las Vegas.
Mr McKay “personifies many attributes our industry needs”, APIG award chairman Scott Curley told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“He is both intelligent and practical; he’s generous in sharing his knowledge and is articulate in expressing his views, and it’s all done with good humour. He consistently maintains the highest level of truthfulness and accuracy – a high level of ethical standard.”
Mr McKay received the biennial award at an APIG gala dinner in Sydney last Monday.
He started his insurance career in 1985 as an account executive in the professional indemnity division of Baillieu Bowring Marsh & McLennan (now Marsh). He also worked for Willis Faber Johnson & Higgins (now Willis) and Gerling Australia before joining Assetinsure in 2003.
Mr McKay is a long-term member of the Insurance Council of Australia’s professional indemnity committee, which he has chaired since 2010.
From 2004 to 2006 he was the APIG national president.
The Frank Earl Award honours an APIG member from the professional lines sector whose conduct reflects the qualities of honesty, integrity and transparency shown by broking leader Mr Earl, who died in 2010 aged 63. It is sponsored by Lee & Lyons Lawyers.
