Aon staff do their bit for charities

Aon Australia staff volunteered more than 1500 hours to charities last year, delivering Christmas hampers, mentoring disadvantaged students and raising funds by participating in fun runs and cycling events.

They entered Sydney’s City2Surf run for the first time, raising over $37,000 for The Smith Family, which assists families with school expenses and encourages students to stay at school.

The Aon Charitable Foundation in Australia focuses on healthcare, welfare, education, environment and research. The Smith Family is one of its four main charity partners.

Aon’s Global Citizenship report – part of Aon’s 25-year anniversary celebrations – says that since 2006 Aon Australia has donated more than $450,000 to the Leukaemia Foundation, which has used the money for research into better treatments and cures as well as practical support for sufferers.

The Aon Foundation sponsors 50 students across Australia through The Smith Family. Staff volunteer for online and tertiary mentoring programs.
