AOA’s international seminar to be held in Sydney this week

Insurance industry leaders from Swiss Re, Gallagher Re and Finity will convene this week in Sydney for the Asia and Oceania Association (AOA) annual seminar.  

AOA is part of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation.  

The seminar will run Tuesday and Wednesday at the Fullerton Hotel, No.1 Martin Place.  

Industry leaders from the UK, Canada, Switzerland, India, Japan, the Philippines and New Zealand, as well as Australia, will present.  

Some of the global issues to be addressed include AI and machine learning’s impact on innovation in insurance, climate risk, the war for talent in the industry post-pandemic. 

The future role of mutuals in the Australian insurance sector will also be explored by Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals CEO Melina Morrison. In Japan, mutuals and co-ops have a 39% share of the insurance market, and a 17% share in Canada.
