ANZIIF launches community service award

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance wants nominations for its inaugural community service award.

The award aims to recognise insurance professionals who make a difference in areas such as education, health, the environment and fundraising.

“Insurance is a business that is crucial to the well-being of regional communities but many insurance professionals in regional areas also play a significant role helping people, the environment and other causes outside their paid work,” ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford said.

Judging criteria also include outstanding professional conduct in dealing with the community and excellent leadership or innovation.

Nominations close on October 20, and the result will be announced at the Victorian regional conference dinner in Ballarat on November 20.

The winner will receive a trophy, a $250 voucher and free institute membership next year.

Victoria is the only state to hold a regional conference this year, but an ANZIIF spokesman said the group is looking at a regional event and community awards in other states next year.
