ANZIIF honours outstanding members
Three leading insurance professionals have been recognised for their contribution to the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).
Former president Duncan West was awarded honorary life membership at the AGM in Melbourne last week.
Crombie Lockwood Group Broking Manager in New Zealand Julie Hill received the ANZIIF service award and CGU Technical Counsel Chris Rodd received the EE Vines Memorial Prize.
CEO Prue Willsford says the recipients are “outstanding members of the ANZIIF community and of the broader insurance community”.
Mr West worked in the industry for more than 30 years in Australia, the UK and India, including as CEO of Vero Insurance and CGU.
He is currently Chairman of Hollard Holdings Australia and Pacific Life Re Australia, and is on the board of Avant Insurance, Lawcover Insurance and Hallmark Insurance. He is also a member of the World Vision business advisory council.
Ms Hill is a former president of the ANZIIF New Zealand professional development committee and member of the New Zealand member advisory board.
Mr Rodd was awarded the EE Vines prize for the best article published in the ANZIIF Journal. His piece – titled Section 46 of the Insurance Contracts Act: is it Defective? – was praised for its “outstanding contribution to discourse on the controversial section of the legislation”.
He is a part-time lecturer in insurance law at Monash University in Melbourne.
