Cy Lindeberg, a Health Support Consultant at BT Financial Group, has been awarded this year’s ALUCA TurksLegal Scholarship.

The prize, now in its 13th year, was announced at a professional development day in Sydney on Wednesday.

Ms Lindeberg wins an overseas conference package valued up to $8000. She will also be invited to sit on the judging panel for next year’s scholarship, and receive automatic membership to professional association the Australasian Life Underwriting and Claims Association (ALUCA) as well as specialist insurance law firm TurksLegal’s scholarship alumni program.

Ms Lindeberg’s paper ‘The Role of Rehab Advisers in Improving Customer Outcomes’ was praised for its “solid and empathetic understanding of the great challenges facing injured and ill customers”.

Runners-up included Celeste McFadyen, Case Manager at CommInsure, for her paper ‘Developing Empathy Skills’; Honor Grant-Hennessy, Senior Underwriter at OnePath for her paper ‘Will we really miss the duty of disclosure when it is gone?’; and Torrent Woodard, Senior Research and Development Underwriter at BT Financial Group for his paper ‘The origins of Protecting Your Superannuation’.

The 2020 ALUCA TurksLegal Scholarship will open in July next year.
