Allianz introduces gender affirmation leave
Allianz Australia has introduced gender affirmation leave as part of efforts to create an inclusive culture and safe working environment.
The policy, announced as part of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Month, offers four weeks paid leave and up to a year of unpaid leave for employees affirming their gender.
“The introduction of our new leave entitlement is indicative of our continued focus on creating an environment and culture where everyone feels safe, and has a sense of belonging, in order to do their best work,” MD Richard Feledy said.
The insurer says its Allianz Pride employee network is also integral to driving a more LGBTI-inclusive workplace.
Chief Customer Services Officer and Allianz Pride Executive Sponsor Brendan Dunne says reviewing policies and procedures, and educating the rest of the company on the issues faced by the LGBTI community is a major focus for the network.
“This important work helps facilitate an open corporate culture which values the diversity of all employees,” he says.
