AILA Ron Shorter award winners set for Singapore
The Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) has named four regional winners in its annual Ron Shorter Memorial Award for public speaking.
Naazihah Jamal from Gilchrist Connell won the Queensland award with the topic Pilates, People and Productivity: the Need for Flexibility and Diversity in the Insurance Industry.
Jackson McDonald from GSA Insurance Brokers took the NSW/SA prize with a speech called Insuring Autonomous Technology.
Rumesh Gnanaseelan from Minter Ellison won in Victoria/Tasmania on the topic No-Fault Compensation for Medical Injury: Exploring the Patient Safety Potential.
Melusha Robson from LGIS gained top honours in WA with a speech called Disruption, What’s the Interruption – Disruptive Technologies and Their Impact on the Insurance Industry.
The winners will attend the Asia-Pacific Insurance Conference in Singapore on October 18-20, which covers topics including regional regulation, catastrophe modelling, pricing and profitability in Asia, and cyber simulation and managing business interruption after cyber attacks.
The Ron Shorter award was established in NSW in 2012 for young insurance professionals, before expanding to other states in following years.
