AILA names life members
The Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) has presented insurance lawyers Paul O’Brien and Rebecca Stevens with life memberships for their contributions to the organisation.
Mr O’Brien previously served as a director on the AILA board and president of its NSW branch. He is also a director at YPOL Lawyers and has litigated several high-profile insurance cases.
“For many years, he spearheaded the successful NSW Twilight Seminar Series and has been instrumental in leading more than 150 AILA seminars,” AILA President Cameron Roberts said.
Ms Stevens has been a member of AILA since 1999, where she spent several years as part of its Queensland branch and national board. She has also been a partner for more than 27 years at Brisbane-based Carter Newell Lawyers.
The body says life memberships are awarded to members who have made significant contributions to AILA or insurance law through ongoing contributions, outstanding service and high levels of commitment.
AILA also awarded President of the South Australian Court of Appeal Justice Mark Livesey its 2022 Insurance Law Prize for industry and insurance law contributions.
