AILA launches $50 membership category

The Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) announced today a new $50 membership category will be available from July for industry representatives such as brokers, reinsurers and risk managers.

National President Cameron Roberts, a partner at Thomson Greer, says the move is aimed at diversifying AILA’s membership, which will help it understand better the needs of the industry.

“When I became national president 18 months ago, my goal was to better serve the entire insurance industry, not just insurance lawyers,” he said.

From July 1, AILA will have just six membership categories, down from 14 previously. The six classes are the $50 industry category; regional, senior or international ($50); legal corporate ($197); individual ($239); two-year individual ($414); and student ($48).

AILA also has a reciprocal agreement with the New Zealand Insurance Law Association, where members of the two bodies are automatically given complimentary membership.
