AILA honours Gill and Rodd
The Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) has awarded a life membership prize to one its founders.
Michael Gill received the award at the association’s gala dinner last Thursday, held as part of the national conference.
CGU Technical Counsel Chris Rodd was also honoured, receiving the AILA insurance law prize, which recognises a substantial contribution to the insurance industry or insurance law.
Both Mr Gill and Mr Rodd are previous AILA presidents.
Mr Gill is a consultant with DLA Piper, having joined the company in 1968 when it was Frank A Davenport & Mant.
He was one of two Australians to meet the international insurance law body – the Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances (AIDA) – in 1982, when they were asked to establish a chapter in Australia.
Mr Gill is now AIDA President and also chairs the General Insurance Code of Practice Code Compliance Committee.
