AICLA re-elects President
The Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters has re-elected Tasmania’s Michael Cooke as President.
Michael Collins from SA was named Deputy President at the AGM in Brisbane last week and Leon Briggs from New Zealand became Executive Member.
Long-standing supporter Paul O’Sullivan received life membership.
CEO Tony Libke says AICLA’s membership had been growing in Asia and Australia.
Institute members receive enrolment fee discounts for the Diploma of Loss Adjusting, which could explain part of the rise, he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“CEOs also recognise the benefits of having properly qualified staff.”
Mr Libke will accompany Mr Cooke on visits to Adelaide and Perth to update members there, and the group is considering a new forum to address female members’ concerns.
He says women account for just 10% of loss adjusters but 30% of people studying the diploma.
“This is a very male-dominated profession but over time that will change,” he said. “There are more roles for women in loss adjusting and we want to make sure we can help.”
Mr Libke says preparations are well under way for the Asian Claims Convention, to be held in Singapore in April.
