Agriculture Victoria hosts farm cover webinar
A free webinar on Wednesday entitled “Farm Insurance Uncovered” will be hosted by Agriculture Victoria and feature insurance experts sharing insights after recent bushfires, floods and storms.
Adroit Insurance risk adviser Michael Myers will explain how agricultural businesses should approach farm insurance and what it covers, whether customers are running a livestock property in a fire-prone area, a broadacre farm in a region with dry seasonal conditions or a horticulture business with crop protection infrastructure.
“It’s important with insurance to get it right from the start,” Mr Myers said. “It’s too late once a fire or a flood hits to try to make sure you are covered. You need to know what your insurance is covering, and importantly what it’s not covering.”
National Farmers’ Federation’s (NFF) Ash Salardini, who oversaw the NFF’s Financial Risk Management Project, will present an overview of risk management on farms and the role insurance can play.
Mr Myers said it was important farm policies keep pace with changes to a business and farmers “need to make sure that each year you check the policy details not just the price.”
“You need to look not just at the value of your old shed or fence, but what it would cost to get a contractor in to build a new one,” he said.
Wednesday’s hour-long webinar starts at 7pm AEST. Register at the Agriculture Victoria website.
