Advisers move to fire managers association

Insurance Advisers Association of Australia’s (IAAA) members will join the rival Australian Fire Managers Association (AFMA) as the IAAA gets ready to fold.

Members last week overwhelmingly voted for the move to the AFMA, which mainly concentrates on training for general insurance brokers and advisers.

IAAA President Brian Enever told insuranceNEWS.com.au the association, which has about 65 members, is winding up, and the decision to transfer to the AFMA is “the best fit” for its members.

He says members will still be able to use the IAAA name for marketing purposes, but the association itself will cease to exist by the end of the year.

The motion to move to the AFMA was passed 64 votes to one against in a meeting at the at the association’s annual conference in Adelaide last week.
