Adjuster scores a prize treble

A Sydney loss adjuster scored an awards hat-trick at the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) awards ceremony in Sydney on Thursday.

Chloe Zhou, of Crawford & Company, won the Diploma of Loss Adjusting prize for general excellence, the Charles Buchanan prize and the Syd McDonald young adjuster award.

The Charles Buchanan prize recognises outstanding assignments in one module of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) Diploma in Financial Services (Loss Adjusting).

The Syd McDonald award is for members aged up to 35 who achieve the highest mark in the diploma.

The Carey Bird Scholarship – in memory of the former Marsh employee and AICLA member who died in the 2011 Christchurch quakes – was presented for the first time.

The essay-based award was won by Richard Mayne, 25, from Cerno in Sydney.

Life membership was awarded to former AICLA president Mark Godfrey, CEO of New Zealand-based Godfrey & Co.

There was also a presentation to retiring ANZIIF CEO Joan Fitzpatrick.

The ceremony at Doltone House in Hyde Park, Sydney, was attended by more than 300 guests.

“It was a fabulous, spectacular event,” AICLA CEO Tony Libke told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “It was great to see two young loss adjusters being recognised.”
