1600 attend Steadfast Convention welcome event

More than 1600 people enjoyed drinks, food and circus performers at the Royal Perth Yacht Club last night as the Steadfast Convention got underway.

The convention will feature more than 20 speakers including Steadfast CEO Robert Kelly, former Deputy Prime Minister and Ambassador to the US Kim Beazley and former athlete Jana Pittman.

Today an industry panel will discuss key issues. Moderated by Mr Kelly, the panel will feature National Insurance Brokers Association CEO Phil Kewin, Underwriting Agencies Council CEO Jenny Bax and Insurance Council of Australia Regulatory Policy GM Alexandra Hordern.

“In this session, the industry experts will cover a range of topics such as: what’s next in respect to the Quality of Advice Review and what this means for brokers; impact on insurers from climate, claims and investment in mitigation and what this means for brokers and clients,” Steadfast says.

The panel will also discuss the growing role of underwriting agencies, generational change in the industry, and emerging market trends.

Awards for the Steadfast-ANZIIF Outstanding Insurance Professional and Goldseal Student of the Year will be presented during the convention.

“This year’s theme, Thrive, represents our journey as individuals and entrepreneurial insurance professionals as we have recalibrated after previous years of disruption,” Steadfast says.

“Our aim is to create an environment that brings together industry leaders, brokers, sponsors, service providers, and speakers to connect, celebrate and thrive together.”

The event, which concludes on Tuesday with a gala dinner, is being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. More than 2000 industry professionals are expected to attend.
