Swimming with sharks: Steadfast CEO set for charity challenge
Steadfast MD and CEO Robert Kelly will dive with sharks as part of this year’s CEO Dare to Cure, a charity fundraiser supporting the Children’s Cancer Institute.
Mr Kelly says he will endure the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium’s Shark Dive Xtreme, a 30-minute cage-free dive into shark-infested waters, on October 27.
It will be Mr Kelly’s fourth time participating in the CEO Dare to Cure, which sees business leaders and executives take part in daring stunts and challenges to help raise funds for treatments for children with cancer.
Last year’s event saw Mr Kelly participate in the Walk the Plank challenge, a virtual reality-based mission set on an 80-story skyscraper, as he raised over $100,000 for the charity.
“Every week nearly three Australian children and adolescents will die of cancer,” Mr Kelly writes on his fundraising page.
“I believe this is three too many, that’s why this year I have agreed to step out of my comfort zone and raise funds to find a cure for the brave kids who face the fear of treatment every single day.”
He will be joined by regular participant Gallagher Australia CEO Sarah Lyons, who will take in another “ultimate dare challenge” with the Red Bull Aerobatic Flight.
In a LinkedIn announcement, Mr Kelly says every donation (up to $100,000) made today (Thursday, August 17) will be doubled.
