Steadfast partners with Indigenous Advisor for reconciliation initiatives
Steadfast has announced it will partner with Indigenous Advisor Sean Gordon to help guide the firm as it explores the next stage of its reconciliation commitments.
Steadfast CEO Robert Kelly says Mr Gordon will provide key advice for the group’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Committee.
Mr Gordon was made a Member of the Order of Australia earlier this year for his service to Indigenous communities and currently serves as Chairman of the Insurance Council of Australia’s Indigenous Advisory Committee as well as on several other boards.
He is the owner and MD of Gidgee Group Consulting and Partnerships, a 100% Indigenous-owned business, and is the current CEO of the Yadha Muru Foundation.
“Mr Gordon has been an extraordinary advocate for First Nations people over many years,” Mr Kelly said.
“His life’s work has been dedicated to empowering Indigenous people through social, cultural and economic means, which aligns beautifully with what we aim to achieve through our RAP commitments.”
The appointment follows Steadfast’s partnership with First Nations charity group Bandu last month, which will see the firm provide funding for accommodation and short-term living arrangements for young Indigenous students.
“While we’re encouraged by the progress we’ve made so far, we also realise that this is a journey, and we still have a long way to go,” Mr Kelly said.
“Mr Gordon’s experience, leadership and deep understanding of Indigenous communities will help us take our reconciliation efforts to the next level.”
Mr Gordon says he looks forward to working with Steadfast to help deliver for Indigenous communities.
“I am always heartened to work with organisations and companies that are dedicated to authentic and long-term reconciliation,” Mr Gordon said.
“Through strategic and measurable reconciliation initiatives, Steadfast can have a true and lasting impact on the insurance industry.”
