ProRisk appoints Liberty veteran as chair

Noel MacCarthy has been made chair at ProRisk and Armada Underwriting.

He left Liberty in July after 25 years, having returned to Australia from the US last year to become its global product leader for casualty.

ProRisk CEO Hamish McDonald Nye says Mr MacCarthy is an “incredibly accomplished insurance professional, bringing an extensive experience and capability across leadership, portfolio management, strategy and corporate governance.

“He will play an integral role as ProRisk continues its rapid growth and focus on delivering outstanding insurance products backed by strong capacity and in-house claims while making it easier for brokers to quote and bind on ProBind.”

Mr MacCarthy worked at HIH before joining Liberty in Sydney in 1999 to lead the Asia-Pacific casualty portfolio when the business opened.

He moved to Singapore in 2015 and Hong Kong the following year, returning to Australia in 2017 before moving to Boston in 2022 as Liberty’s global casualty leader.

ProRisk employs 40 staff in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
