NIBA reveals Queensland award winners

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) Broker of the Year award for Queensland has been won by SB Protect Insurance Partner Lisa Shanta, while the region’s Young Broker of the Year award went to East West Insurance Brokers Head of Business Development Taylor Burstow.

National winners of the QBE sponsored Broker of the Year and Vero sponsored Young Broker of the Year awards will be revealed on October 8-10 at the NIBA Convention at The Star, Gold Coast.

Ms Shanta competes against WA’s Grace Insurance Director Frans du Plessis, NSW’s Finsura Senior Account Manager Barry Sonter, Marsh Corporate & Commercial Leader Victoria Nick Hodges, and a winner from SA/NT who is to be revealed on Friday.

“We’re pleased to acknowledge Lisa's efforts in meeting and exceeding her customer’s needs,” QBE Australia Pacific MD Business Elliot Hill said. “This award recognises those who have made a significant impact to their customers and local communities.”

Brisbane-based Master Builders Insurance Account Manager Lisa Bowles was a Queensland Broker of the Year finalist.

Young Broker winner Mr Burstow will now compete nationally with Aviso WA Insurance Brokers Account Executive Justin Purslowe, NSW’s Network Insurance Group Account Director Joel Morrell, Victoria’s Marsh Principal Corporate Olivia Hancock, and the SA/NT region winner.

Vero State Distribution Manager Queensland Peter Roberts says Mr Burstow "truly stood out amidst this year's competitive field”.

"He continues to demonstrate strong commitment to his clients, the broking industry and the broader community. We at Vero are thrilled to support exceptional brokers like him."

Brisbane-based Insurance Web Account Manager Travis Rock was a Queensland finalist.

NIBA CEO Philip Kewin says the awards are an integral part of recognising and celebrating the talent that’s present in the broking profession:

“We congratulate all the finalists for their commitment and dedication towards the profession,” he said.
