NIBA opens award nominations
Nominations for two National Insurance Brokers Association awards are now open until March 14.
Regional broker of the year and young broker of the year winners will be selected from NSW/ACT, Queensland, SA/NT, Victoria/Tasmania and WA, and will be revealed in July at NIBA gala lunches.
Victors in both categories then contend for national honours. The winning pair will be crowned at the NIBA Convention on the Gold Coast in October.
CEO Richard Klipin says the awards “honour those who embody the values that drive our profession forward – values of excellence, integrity and commitment.
“By nominating a peer or putting yourself forward, you’re not just celebrating achievement; you’re shining a light on the incredible impact brokers have in shaping the future of Australians.”
The broker award, which honours the late Stephen Ball, is sponsored by CGU. The national winner will attend a New York University four-day executive education course, including flights and seven nights’ accommodation in autumn next year.
“Partnering with NIBA for this award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to rewarding broker ambition – celebrating professionals who are leading the way in shaping change within the industry,” CGU EGM Damien Gallagher said.
The young broker award launched in 1990, in honour of former insurance commissioner and lecturer Warren Tickle.
Mr Tickle also worked at Sun Alliance – today known as Vero, which sponsors the award.
Nominations are open to candidates aged under 35. The five state winners will participate in a Vero professional development program.
Vero head of distribution Anthony Pagano says the insurer is a “firm believer in nurturing the next generation of broking leaders”.
The national winner will receive a tailored development experience valued at $10,000, courtesy of Vero.
