Miller announces new Asia Pacific team

London-based brokerage Miller has established a new Asia Pacific treaty reinsurance team.

Richard Broad has been appointed Head of Treaty APAC. He was most recently Lockton Regional Head of Reinsurance for Lockton APAC, based in Singapore, and has more than 25 years’ experience in reinsurance broking.

Also on the team in Singapore are Bruce Ford, formerly Lockton International APAC Reinsurance Head of Client Solutions, and Pei Nee Goi, formerly Lockton Head of Catastrophe Modelling.

Former Lockton Consultant Jo Garnett and Hui Sin Low are team members based in Malaysia.

“Miller has clear ambitions to grow in APAC and this can be seen from the investments and hires it has made over the last 18 months,” Mr Broad said. "This is a great time to join.”

Miller has 50 employees across Singapore, Malaysia and Japan after acquiring Japanese brokerage Lead Insurance last year. It has plans to continue its rapid growth in the region.

“APAC is a central pillar of Miller’s international growth strategy and a market in which we see clear long-term opportunities,” Miller Asia Head Ron Whyte said. “We want to establish meaningful and value-add reinsurance capabilities in the region and establishing this new team is a significant milestone.

“It will be exciting to bring new products and solutions to our clients and see our reinsurance footprint grow.”
