Queensland’s Hunter Broking is now part of Befor Insurance Solutions.

Befor, founded last year, is a corporate authorised representative of Resilium. It has a team of 22 at offices in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, and focuses on using new technology.

Former Stella COO Renee Cosgrove is EGM, former Aviso Select CEO Andrew Hinz is head of broking and former Youi EGM Sam Carlson is chief technology officer.

“We’re reimagining the broker experience like never before,” Befor says. “Technology takes the hassle out of searching, and human brokers provide the personalised touch.”

The Hunter team of five moved to new premises at Plumridge House in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley this week, founder Josh Ryan told insuranceNEWS.com.au.  

“This merger allows us to combine our proven track record with cutting-edge technology and a commitment to exceptional service,” said Mr Ryan, who named the brokerage after his son.

Mr Ryan now takes the role of Befor manager of corporate and specialty.

“It’s an absolute life-changer for me because I can still do what I love but key stakeholders in the business are taking care of a lot of the things that I used to do, right down to marketing, HR – other things that are now managed by people who specialise in those fields,” he said.

“There’s a lot of capital and investment that’s been put behind this. It’s cool to be part of something very different and really exciting because I can dedicate more of my time to doing what I’m good at.”
