Industry leaders prepare for fundraiser challenges
Insurance executives and leaders are making final preparations ahead of tomorrow's CEO Dare to Cure event, which will see them take on daring challenges to help raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Institute.
Steadfast executives Robert Kelly and Nigel Fitzgerald will be among the participants, with the duo taking on a 30-minute dive in shark-filled waters at Sea Life Sydney Aquarium.
Mr Kelly, who will be participating in the fundraiser for the fourth year, says the plunge “isn’t exactly relaxing” but is a worthy endeavour for an “incredible cause”. Mr Kelly has raised $12,595 for the fundraiser.
"While this is a one-off dare for me, many brave kids face their fears and fight a vicious battle every day,” Mr Kelly said.
“The research funded through CEO Dare to Cure can be life-changing, and that's what this challenge is about.”
Mr Fitzgerald, who has raised $12,825, says the daunting event offers a “different type of shark tank to those typically associated with the business world”.
Other executives participating in the event include Gallagher CEO Sarah Lyons, who will take to the skies as part of the Red Bull Aerobatic Flight challenge and Whitbread Insurance Group CEO Michael Giansiracusa, who will be taking on an ice bath challenge.
